Roseville Police remind you that whether you live in an apartment, condo, townhome or single family home, there are things you can do to deter criminals from breaking into your home.
- Adequate lighting is one of the best deterrents. Consider installing dusk to dawn lighting at all entryways and motion lights on the patios, balconies or garages. Report inadequate or burned out lighting to property managers.
- Change door locks when moving into new housing.
- Install deadbolt locks, chain locks and peep holes for added security.
- Install sliding door locks to patio and balcony doors.
- Consider new technology: key codes, remote locking and unlocking and security cameras.
- Remove ladders, chairs or trellises that could be used to climb to upper level windows.
- Make sure that your address is clearly visible to fire, police and emergency vehicles. Numbers must be at least four inches in size and on the building, not on the mailbox.
- Check the identification of anyone coming to do work on your home. Anyone who works for the City of Roseville carries proper identification.
- If you see anything suspicious, immediately call 9-1-1.
