Roseville Elections and Voting.

2024 is a big election year. We will be voting for president, federal, state, and local offices. The City of Roseville has two at-large vacancies for the office of Council Member.

INVEST IN ROSEVILLE

Roseville voters will consider two separate ballot questions about whether to use a local 0.5% sales tax to support a new Maintenance Operations Center and License & Passport Center. The local sales tax rate will be the same if one or both projects are approved.

Why use a local sales tax? 

Cities have two primary ways to pay for public service improvements: sales taxes and property taxes. By using a sales tax, the cost of the investment would be spread among residents and nonresidents who make purchases in the city and often benefit from city services.

  • 64% of the sales tax would be paid by nonresidents, according to a study by the University of Minnesota Extension Center for Community Vitality,  
  • Approximately $49 million of the construction costs would be paid by nonresidents who purchase goods and services in Roseville, according to the University of Minnesota study.
  • If the projects were funded through a property tax increase, the cost burden would only fall on those who own commercial and residential property in Roseville.

Many communities in the Twin Cities have passed local sales taxes including St. Paul, Minneapolis, Edina, Bloomington, Golden Valley, Oakdale, and Maple Grove.

REGISTER TO VOTE 

If you've recently moved or haven't voted before, register to vote here.

ABSENTEE/EARLY VOTING 

All voters can vote early in Minnesota. You do not need to provide a reason to vote by mail. First, register to vote or check your registration status on the Minnesota Secretary of State website. When there is an election in your area, you can submit an absentee ballot application throughout the year. 

2024 in-person absentee and Early Voting locations and hours - Vote in Person | Ramsey County

Ramsey County voters may vote before Election Day at any county absentee voting location, regardless of their home address. Ballots do not need to be requested in advance.
