[ARCHIVED] Volunteer Spotlight: Group Volunteers Make it Happen

veritas langton park

From green space cleanup to helping with summer events, the City of Roseville’s group volunteers play an important role in our community.

For the past two years, the Sustainability At Veritas Empowered (SAVE) group has headed out to Langton Lake Park, with buckets and grabbers in hand, to help clean up the park. Veritas is one of many groups that have chosen to adopt a Roseville park.

I enjoy doing the park cleanups because it’s a good way to get outside and talk to people from work,” says Veritas employee Amy Nguyen. “Plus, I get to give back to the community. I like walking in the park and it’s good to know that we’re helping to keep it clean. It’s hard to find a place to fit more than 50 volunteers who want to make a difference, but City of Roseville Volunteer Coordinator Rachel Boggs is an expert. When the Keller Williams Roseville office closed down for the day for their annual “Red Day” of service, she put them to work at Muriel Sahlin Arboretum to plant, weed, and beautify the park.

It’s really a two-way street,” says Boggs. “When people come together with the team they work with, to participate in something outside of their normal day at the office, it becomes a great team building experience, while giving back to the community.” When you sign your group up to volunteer with Roseville, you can expect an organized and purposeful experience.

Boggs adds, “I truly value our volunteers’ time and want to provide a great experience. If you had the opportunity to watch or participate in the Run for the Roses at Rosefest, you likely saw or heard the Keller Williams cheer squad who joined this year with bells, whistles, and some great signage to cheer on Rosefest runners. One of the reasons I love the city of Roseville and why it's on my radar is because they appreciate their volunteers and they are so well organized,” says Sandy Steiner from the Vaz + Harwood Team at Keller Williams. “There are always events that you can do.
