COVID-19 hasn’t stopped the Roseville Parks and Recreation Department from offering a fun summer experience. Although fewer kids took part than in previous years, participants are having lots of fun.
Kids are taking part in team building activities, puppet shows, water games and sports. They also get a little “me” time and free time, keeping a journal and reflecting on their days.
The city has made many modifications to keep kids and staff safe. The kids meet in four separate locations and programming has been altered so individual campers have their own stations and arts and activity supplies. Field trips have been cancelled, but new activities that ensure social distancing have been added.
Staff follow rules set out by the Minnesota Department of Health and the Center for Disease Control. That means additional cleaning and disinfecting, social distancing, mask wearing, frequent hand washing and other efforts to keep everyone safe.
The Roseville Parks and Recreation Department will continue to offer safe programming throughout the year, and they look forward to Summer 2021 when they hope to welcome more kids back to a spectacular summer of fun.
