New Year’s Resolution – vaccinate and register your pets. Pets in the City of Roseville must be licensed and have registration and vaccination tags secured to their collars.
Tags make it easier to return a lost pet to its rightful owner rather than having it placed in an animal shelter.
Unfortunately, many stray pets in Roseville are not licensed or do not have tags. Police officers have no way of knowing how to return a pet to its rightful owner. Stray pets that do not have tags or are not microchipped are taken to Saint Paul Animal Control, where animals are kept a minimum of five days. Call 651-266-1100 if you think your pet may have been taken to the clinic.
Roseville residents can register their pets at Roseville City Hall, 2660 Civic Center Drive. Bring proof of rabies, sterilization and microchip, if applicable. Lifetime and two-year licenses are available. Registration costs vary from $5.00 to $150.00 depending upon whether the pet has been sterilized or microchipped. Microchipping adds security in case the pet’s collar slips off. Roseville police officers have a microchip reader to help when recovering a pet - both living and deceased.
