Project Updates
The contractor will complete paving the trail by September 6, weather dependent. Temporary trail closures will be posted during this work.
Overview
In 2019, the City of Roseville completed Phase 1 of the Tamarack Trail project, which provided a paved pathway from Farrington Street into Tamarack Park.
In 2020, the City proposed completing the pathway from Western Avenue into Tamarack Park as a phase 2 project. Due to neighborhood concerns, the project was delayed to get additional public feedback.
In 2021, the Council approved adding the phase 2 segment to the Pathway Master Plan.
At the October 23, 2023 City Council meeting, the Council authorized the project. Construction of the proposed pathway was originally scheduled to begin during the summer of 2024; however additional easement needs were identified for the Wagner pathway portion of the project. Staff is currently executing the easements, one of which is being proposed to be approved at the March 24, 2025 Council meeting. Staff is working with Ramsey County on the final easement.
The construction of the trail will be paid for with park renewal funds. There will be no cost or assessment to property owners.
Past Meetings
At the July 21, 2025 City Council meeting, the contract was awarded to the lowest responsible bidder, Minnesota Paving & Materials, Inc.
At the March 3, 2025 City Council meeting, the Council approved tree clearing contracts for projects throughout Roseville, including the Tamarack Park Pathway – Phase 2.
At the October 23, 2023 City Council meeting, the Council authorized the project.
At the October 11, 2021 City Council meeting, the Council approved amending the pathway master plan to include the Tamarack segment.
At the July 27, 2021, the Pubic Works Environment and Transportation Commission discussed amending the pathway master plan to include the Tamarack segment.

Schedule
A preconstruction meeting was held on August 7, 2025. A tentative schedule was provided by the contractor and work is scheduled to commence on August 18, 2025.
Tree clearing operations are scheduled to begin the week of March 17, 2025.
Staff is working on executing the final easement necessary for the project with Ramsey County and is anticipating construction to begin in summer of 2025.
