Chief Erika Scheider was appointed Chief of Police in 2020. Chief Scheider began her career with the Roseville Police Department in 1997. Since that time, she served as a patrol officer, detective, sergeant, investigation lieutenant, operations lieutenant, administration lieutenant, deputy chief and public information officer. She has served in a number of specialty positions throughout her career, including field training officer, team leader and member of the hostage and crisis negotiator team, background investigator, explorer advisor, and mentor to at risk youth and law enforcement students. She was recognized with a Meritorious Service Award from the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association (2004) and an Excellence in Performance Award from the Minnesota Association of Women Police (2005).
Chief Scheider is a graduate of the 262th session of the FBI National Academy. She holds a Master’s Degree from the University of St. Thomas in Police Leadership, a Graduate Certificate from the University of Virginia, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Augsburg College. She also completed the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Women’s Leadership Institute, IACP Leadership in Police Organization Program, and FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar. Chief Scheider is a member of the Board of Directors for the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association and served as president of the Ramsey Chiefs of Police Association (2022). She also is a board member for the Suburban Ramsey Family Collaborative.
