Eighty local firefighters took part in a railroad response training sponsored by Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Rail. Roseville Fire Department hosted the training on March 10 as part of a consortium among the Ramsey County Fire Chief’s Association.
The classes, taught by Paul Hester, focused on rail emergencies, rail car anatomy, derailment tactics, and transporting crude oil by rail. Firefighters also reviewed different rail car components as part of a mobile trailer prop that was brought in as part of the training.
“It was a good opportunity for firefighters from across Ramsey County to come together and train as a group,” said Roseville Battalion Chief David Brosnahan. “The training was free for fire departments and included valuable knowledge and experience to learn more about rail emergencies and how to better handle them if they happen in our community.”
