[ARCHIVED] Roseville Seeking Advisory Commission Applications

The Roseville City Council is seeking applicants for vacancies on several commissions, including the Community Engagement Commission and the Finance Commission that the council established earlier this year.

Commissions serve as voluntary advisory boards to the City Council. Deadline for applying is Wednesday, March 5. Interviews will be conducted the week of March 10. Dates and times will be determined depending upon number of applicants.

Community Engagement Commission – seven vacancies
The seven-member Community Engagement Commission will look at ways to increase and improve community involvement, including engaging more participation from underrepresented groups. The commission will meet the second Thursday of each month.

Ethics Commission – one vacancy
The five-member Ethics Commission advises the City Council on matters involving the City’s ethics code, administration of the ethics code and other responsibilities delegated by the City Council. The commission meets quarterly.

Finance Commission –number of vacancies to be determined
The Finance Commission will focus on the budget process, financial policies, recommendations on funding strategies for the capital improvement plan and budget goals and objectives in such areas as local tax rate and spending targets. The commission will meet the second Tuesday of each month.

Human Rights Commission – one vacancy
The seven-member Human Rights Commission provides a method for citizen input concerning human rights issues and promotes a positive human rights climate in the community through public education. The commission meets the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.

Parks and Recreation Commission – one vacancy
The nine-member Parks and Recreation Commission provides for citizen input concerning parks and recreation facilities, programs, needs and concerns. The commission identifies areas, which may require action or change to promote a safe and responsive Parks and Recreation program. The commission meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.

Public Works, Environment and Transportation Commission – four vacancies

The commission maintains an interest in and an understanding of the Public Works Department and in federal, state, county, regional and other services that impact the City’s public works functions. They meet the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.

Commissioners are appointed to serve a three-year term that begins April 1, 2014, through March 31, 2017 with the exception of the appointments to the Community Engagement and the Finance Commissions. For those commissions, members will be appointed to staggered terms of one, two or three years.
