[ARCHIVED] Public Hearing - County Road D Reconstruction

County Road D between Lexington Ave. and Victoria St. is considered to be in marginal condition, with pavement showing signs of distress with many cracks and severe oxidation. In June 2012, the City Council directed staff to complete a feasibility study to analyze reconstruction of County Road D.

City staff, working with the City of Shoreview, held four community meetings to gather feedback on possible street improvements.

Using input from these meetings, the City developed a design for the new street. The proposed project includes reconstructing County Road D with new asphalt pavement and concrete curb and gutter, adding concrete sidewalk on the south side of the street, reconstructing the watermain, and installing new storm sewer facilities.

On January 28, staff will present the findings of the feasibility study. Residents will have a chance to speak to the City Council about the proposed project. Following the public hearing, which will begin after 6:00 p.m., the City Council will vote on whether to move forward with the project. If approved, staff will prepare construction documents for the 2013 summer construction season. Since it is a Municipal State Aid street, a portion of the repairs will be funded using Municipal State Aid funds which are collected as part of the state gas tax revenues, and a portion of the project costs will be assessed to the property owners that have frontage on the street.

Additional information on the proposed project and assessments are in the Feasibility Report. If you have questions please contact City Engineer Debra Bloom .
