The City Council is expected to review the draft Comprehensive Plan Update for the final time on May 21. Following the review, the draft will be distributed to neighboring cities for their review and comment.
The document will then be sent to the Metropolitan Council for final approval.
Cities and counties in the seven-county metropolitan area are required to file an updated Comprehensive Plan with the Metropolitan Council every 10 years. The Comp Plan sets policies for future development according to anticipated community needs. The Met Council reviews the plan to ensure that it fits with regional polices and is consistent with growth expectations within the seven-county metro.
