Does your home need to be painted? You may be eligible for a free paint job. Each year the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches sponsors a Paint-A-Thon.
Volunteers paint homes throughout the seven-county metro area the first weekend of August.
To be eligible, participants must be a homeowner who meets income guidelines and be 60 years or older or have a permanent disability. The monthly household income cannot exceed $2,024 for one person, $2,744 for two people or $3,464 for three people. The home must be a single-family home and occupied by the owner. It must be structurally sound and not in need of major repair.
Applications are available at www.metropaintathon.org or call 612-276-1579 and one will be mailed to you. Roseville residents can call Code Compliance Officers Amy Bahe and Chris Bolstad at 651-792-7014 to request an application. Application deadline is May 1. Not everyone who applies is selected for this program. Homes are inspected and selected based on need.
The number of houses painted is limited by the number of volunteers. Metro Paint-A-Thon welcomes volunteer groups from companies, community groups, congregations, families and individuals. If you or a group of your friends or coworkers would like to volunteer to paint a home, please call 612-276-1579.
