Maintaining Roseville’s infrastructure is one of the city’s highest priorities. In 2017, Roseville has undertaken several projects to improve roadways and to maintain its storm water and sanitary sewer systems.
The projects included:
- Resurfacing 6.5 miles of roadway to be completed late October
- Replaced one mile of watermain
- Rehabbed 7.5 miles of sewer pipe by lining them
- Reconstructed Dale St. parking lot in Central Park
- Constructed Larpenteur Ave. sidewalk extension
- Completed Twin Lakes Parkway extension and installed new traffic signal
- Installed a permeable paver storm water system on South Lake Owasso Blvd.
- Replaced four railroad crossings in three locations
- Replaced a sanitary sewer lift station on Cleveland St.
The work completed by the city helps to extend the life of roadways and the sewer system, saving money over the life of the infrastructure. The sanitary sewer main lining program extends the life of sanitary sewers by 50 or more years.
The mill and overlay process is used to repave segment of streets in need of repair. It is more durable than seal coating and includes removing the top layer of the street. After the top layer is removed, a new layer of bituminous pavement is put in its place. This work can extend the life of a road by up to 20 years.
The Dale Street parking lot was reconstructed with new curb and pavement and storm sewer improvements. The parking lot was realigned to improve traffic circulation and to add parking spots. A rain garden was also installed to facilitate storm water treatment.
