Based on recommendations from the Community Development and Fire Departments, the City Council is considering adoption of Minnesota State Building Code 1306.0010, special fire protection systems for businesses.
Minnesota State Building Code 1306.0010 requires the installation of automatic sprinkler systems for new buildings, buildings increased in total floor area (including the existing building), or buildings in which the occupancy classification has changed.
Currently, 36 metro communities have adopted the code.
In Roseville, approximately 60 percent of businesses are already in compliance with the proposed code requirements.
Prior to considering adoption of the code, the City Council has requested the Fire Department seek input from local businesses. To provide feedback, businesses should contact Fire Chief Tim O’Neill via email at tim.oneill@cityofroseville.com.
