Pitzl received a 2017 Presidents’ Community Partner Award for his work in the Law Enforcement Mentoring Program at Century College. Pitzl was recognized for the positive tone he set, for taking risks with activities to contribute to teambuilding, and for being engaged with his mentee Tee, who is also a Century College student. Tee was also recognized with a Student Leadership Award.

The Community Partner Award is given to community-based organizations that have enhanced the quality of life in the community in meaningful and measurable ways and have engaged in the development of sustained, reciprocal partnerships with a college or university.

The Student Leadership Award is for a student or student organization that models a commitment to civic responsibility and leadership that addresses public issues, that demonstrated effective community building, and that integrates civic engagement into the college experience.

The awards were presented on at the Minnesota Campus Compact Conference. Pitzl and Tee were joined by 65 others who received awards and recognitions for their work to promote civic engagement throughout the state.

The Minnesota Campus Compact is a consortium of public and private colleges and universities that have active service learning and civic engagement programs.
