Planning to sneak an extra piece of pie this Thanksgiving? Can’t say no to stuffing? Go ahead and indulge, then forget the guilt and head over to the Minnesota OVAL to skate the extra calories away.
According to the American Council of Exercise, the average Thanksgiving dinner is about 3,000 calories. That’s 50% more calories than most people need in a day. Skating burns up roughly 500 calories per hour, so spending time on the ice is a healthy way to cap off your Thanksgiving Day.
On November 26, the Minnesota OVAL will open from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. for open skating and hockey. Cost is $5.50 and skates are available to rent for $4.00.
The Minnesota OVAL is located at the northwest corner of Lexington and County Road C in Roseville. It is a unique outdoor recreation facility with 110,000 square feet of ice. It includes a 400-meter skating track surrounding the infield ice area that is used for hockey and bandy. Call 651-792-7007 or log on to www.skatetheoval.com for additional information.
