We have a day of free activities that celebrate foods harvested in the fall, natural history and traditional cultures of Minnesota.

We’ll have Native American music, drumming, dancing, storytelling, and singing. Gibbs Museum will offer historical vignettes and a replica tipi with artifacts of traditional Dakotah life. Pow Wow Grounds, a Native American cafe, will sell wild rice soup, fry bread, Indian tacos, yogurt/wild rice parfaits, buffalo “dogs,” and more. Several food trucks will provide other food options.

Our resident beekeeper will demonstrate the honey-making process and fill bottles with honey fresh from the hives. Volunteers will operate an apple cider press, and visitors can help squeeze a fresh cup of cider. Kids’ activities include crafts and games, making bird houses and printing t-shirts (for a small fee).

HANC is located at 2520 North Dale Street, north of Highway 36, in Roseville. It includes 52 acres of marsh, prairie and forest habitats. The Wild Rice Festival is sponsored by Great Southern Bank with additional support by Half Price Books. This will be a zero waste event.
