In 2019, we will continue the “Creative Crossroads” initiative begun in 2018. We will feature a different world region at each weekly event, with the goal of illustrating similarities and differences across cultures through performance styles. For example, this year’s series will include opportunities for comparing multiple dance styles, like Hula and Belly dancing, Honky Tonk and Polka steps, and K-pop vs. Reggae rhythms. The lineup will also showcase a variety of culturally unique musical instruments, from Andean flutes to Hawaiian slack-key guitar. All of the 2019 Sunday events will also offer dance instruction and/or audience participation activities for multiple ages.
