Protecting our Groundwater

As you get ready to start spring yardwork, please do your part to protect the city’s groundwater. The chemicals you apply to the lawn can seep into groundwater and run off into the storm sewer system. Only buy fertilizers with the chemicals your lawn needs, and only buy enough to use for one season. To find out what chemicals you may need for your lawn, test your soil. Unused Prescription Medications

In the March 5 Roseville Review, the Roseville Library recommended that residents contact the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) about disposing of unused prescription medications. Ramsey County and the City of Roseville offer additional options. Roseville police officers and firefighters have free medication disposal bags available for residents to dispose of small quantities of medication. The bags contain activated carbon that neutralizes medications and prevents it from contaminating groundwater. Read more

Learn to Make Maple Syrup

Roseville Parks and Recreation invites you to Harriet Alexander Nature Center (HANC) to learn the secret of making maple syrup. Join us on Saturday, March 25 or Sunday, March 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at HANC, 2520 North Dale St., Roseville. You’ll get a hands-on experience tapping trees the traditional way. Participants will hear Native American stories and taste maple treats. No charge for this family-friendly outing. Open to all ages. Read more

Splashes of color will be appearing this spring in nature and at the Guidant John Rose Minnesota OVAL. Arts@theOVAL features more than 25 juried artists who will display and sell their fine arts and crafts on Saturday, March 25. The sale is sponsored by the Roseville Area Arts Council and the City of Roseville. Artists’ work includes painting, jewelry, glass, clothing, woven accessories, woodwork, pottery, metal décor, photography and mixed media. Read more
