Meet Scott Sorenson

This week we feature Scott Sorensen, an employee at the Muriel Sahlin Arboretum at Central Park. Scott is a person on the autism spectrum and does many different maintenance tasks around the arboretum.

In 2016, Scott’s love for the outdoors drove him to volunteer at the arboretum in hopes of entering the adult workforce. City Parks and Recreation staff noticed Scott’s hard work and caring demeanor quickly, and hired him on the maintenance team.

“Scott struggles with being confined into small places and the arboretum is a perfect fit for him,” says Scott’s mother, Michelle. “He loves his job over there and it’s been a wonderful experience for him. His supervisor, Patti has been amazing - she’s really patient and just gets him.”

We are proud to have Scott on our team!

“Our philosophy is to be there for people as we 'fight the good fight' against the buy-it, break-it, throw-it-away cycle,” said Russ Battisto, A-1 Vacuum CFO. “Our customers count on us to keep many of their vacuums and extractors running as long as possible.”

A-1 Vacuum in Roseville helps people choose to reuse, helping reduce landfill waste and save people money.
