Black History Month

The History of Black Health and Wellness: Seeking to Improve Health Care Equity for Black Residents


Black History Month is a time to celebrate Black historical figures and living Black changemakers, but it is also a time to seek to understand the realities of racism for Black people in our communities.

This year, the focus of Black History Month centers around the theme of Black Health and Wellness, and it could not come at a more appropriate time. Many of the city’s residents look forward after more than two years of the Covid-19 pandemic that has made the gap in health care access and services even more apparent.

Minnesota Wild defenseman Matt Dumba sported a big smile Monday morning at the Guidant John Rose Minnesota Oval in Roseville for his annual Hockey Without Limits Camp - a camp that is helping make hockey more accessible to all.
