Fire Department Updates

Roseville Fire Department Staff
Chief

Chief’s Corner

September proved to be a very active and busy month for Roseville Fire with in excess of 500 emergency responses, including multiple building fires. Thankfully, due to our fast and effective response, there were no injuries related to the fires and the property damage was kept low.

As we transition into fall please be mindful of ways that we can support ourselves and support our community. The Fire Department offers CPR courses at the fire station or at other sites if requested, as well as services like the Vial of Life.  The Vial of Life is a personal information sheet you can keep in a provided pouch on a refrigerator. It provides first responders information about you, should we ever respond to your residence and you are not in a position to provide us information; information like your pertinent past medical history, medications, your preferred hospital, doctor’s contact information, etc.  This is vital information we will use in an emergency to expedite your care and transport.

I want to take just a moment to invite all of you to our annual Open House on Saturday, October 16th from 9AM-12PM. We will have tours of the fire station, fire prevention and health resources available, as well as emergency and fire-ground demonstrations by our firefighters.  Kids (and adults) are welcome to look at our equipment and sit in our trucks during the open house as well.  This will be a great opportunity to meet your firefighters as well as see us in action!

Special Olympics Torch Run

September 11th, 20th Anniversary

Firefighters gathered on the morning of September 11th to remember the sacrifices so many Americans made on 9/11/2001. A small ceremony was held on the front apron of the fire station with numerous members of the community in attendance to show their support for the victims and heroes of 9/11. We would like to extend our deepest appreciation to the community for their support not only on 9/11 but every day of the year. Thank you to Richard Birger for these great photos of the event.

Roseville Area High School Football Games

We've been cheering on the boys at the home football games this year! Our fire trucks and firefighters help get the Roseville Raiders pumped up before their games! If you're at a game, stop by and check out the truck, we'd love to get to know you!

August Notable Events

Residential Fire

On September 18th crews responded to a house fire on St. Croix street in Roseville. A fire started on the exterior of the home and spread rapidly up into the attic space. Firefighters who had cleared a call nearby just prior to the fire were able to arrive quickly and verify that the occupants of the home were not inside and then begin the process of extinguishing the fire. No injuries were reported and the bulk of the fire damage was contained to the exterior of the home.

Large Brush Fire

If you live in the area of the 1900 block of County Road D you may have seen a rather large “bonfire” in early September, a large pile of trees and other brush from a construction project in the area caught fire. While there was no damage to any buildings or properties, flames could be seen well over 30 feet in the air, due to the size of the fire additional firefighters were called back in from home to help assist with putting the fire out.

New Firefighter

On Friday September 3rd we welcomed our newest Firefighter to the Roseville Fire Department. Firefighter Daniel Hong joined RFD, Firefighter Hong had been working for Regions Hospital as a paramedic and prior to that with Dallas Texas Fire Department as a Firefighter/Paramedic. We are excited to have Daniel on our team!

August Training Highlights

Live Burn Training

The Fire Department conducted our second and final live burn fire training in September. Firefighters spent several hours at the East Metro Training Facility in Maplewood practicing firefighting skills and techniques. These training opportunities take a significant investment of time to prepare but they provide the best opportunity our firefighters have to develop and improve their firefighting skills.
