Roseville Police to Host ‘Catalytic Converter Marking’ Events

Did you know that Minnesota ranks as the 3rd highest state for Catalytic Converter thefts?

Thieves steal catalytic converters due to the high-value metals located within the converters and because it is an easy and quick crime to commit.

“It is rare to catch someone committing this crime while on patrol because thieves conceal themselves well and act quickly, sometimes sawing Catalytic Converters off in 60 seconds or less,” says RPD Auto Theft Specialist Ofc. Olson.

During this event, Roseville residents can sign up for an appointment to have their Catalytic Converter marked with an identifiable number that is entered into a national database.  This allows officers to trace stolen catalytic converters back to the rightful owner and hopefully, deters thieves.

Two events will be held on Saturday, October 9 and Saturday October 23, from 8am - Noon at City Hall (garages).  Appointments are limited.  Click here to reserve your time today or email nick.olson@cityofroseville.com for event details and more auto-theft prevention tips.
