Grant Funds Auto Theft Specialist

Did you know that most cars stolen in Roseville are either running with the keys in the ignition or have the spare key left inside the vehicle?  Roseville Police Department’s (RPD) newest Auto Theft Specialist does. The RPD recently named Officer Nick Olson to an Auto Theft Officer position. The new position will focus on crimes like motor vehicle theft, theft from auto, and catalytic converter thefts; all crimes that have increased in Roseville and throughout the metro in recent years. Read more

Carp Management Program

Non-native common carp are found in most waterways in Minnesota. That is bad news for water quality. Carp search for food along the lake bottom, stirring up nutrient-rich sediment, which in turn contributes to muddy water, phosphorus release and algae. Algae growth chokes out native flora and fauna and clouds the water. The Ramsey-Washington Metro Watershed District (RWMWD) is collaborating with the cities of Roseville and Shoreview to improve water quality by removing carp. Read more

Roseville firefighters had a busy Fourth of July weekend, responding to four building fires and nine grass/rubbish fires. These calls were in addition to the usual medical and safety calls firefighters respond to on a daily basis. Unfortunately, all of the fire calls were in response to improperly discarded fireworks. The hot and dry weather that Minnesota is experiencing makes ideal conditions for fires to spread quickly.

Enjoy Parks Safely

Roseville Police remind you to plan carefully before visiting a park, both locally and while traveling. Do not leave valuables in your vehicle. Thieves know that visitors often leave purses, cell phones, laptops and other valuables in their vehicles while hiking or picnicking, so vehicles in parking lots can become a target. Consider wearing a backpack to carry your valuables. If you don’t want to carry them, leave them at home.
