From its origin in Galveston, Texas in 1865, the observance of June 19 as African American Emancipation Day has spread across the United States and beyond. Follow the clues about Roseville and you could win a basket of prizes. The first clue for the Golden Rose Medallion Hunt will be released on June 24 at 6:50 p.m. at the Frank Rog Amphitheatre in Central Park. Safety First with FireworksIt’s tradition - fireworks to celebrate the Fourth of July. However, fireworks can bring danger. Most fireworks injuries occur in June and July, and the most common fireworks injuries are to children and teens being burned by firecrackers and sparklers. Before you set off fireworks, plan carefully so no one gets hurt. Non-explosive and non-aerial fireworks, including sparklers, snakes, poppers, cones and tubes that emit sparks, are legal in Roseville. Read more

Playground Games GaloreParents, enroll your kids into a summer of fun at Roseville’s Playground Games Galore. Each week from June 21 through August 19 we offer energetic play for active kids lead by a caring staff. Camps meet Monday through Thursday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and are designed for kids ages 7 to 12. Cost for each week of camp is $35 regular and $30 for Roseville residents. Safety Awareness and Self DefenseEnroll your child in a safety awareness and self-defense class and your child will benefit from the skills learned for years to come. Anyone, seven years and older, is invited to take this class. Participants will improve concentration, increase strength and balance and enhance coordination. Classes meet at Central Park School, 535 County Road B-2, on Thursday evenings from June 17 to August 12. Participants are placed in classes based on age and skill, and learn self-discipline and defense. Read more

Rosefest CampoutSpend an evening under the stars. Roseville Parks and Recreation invites you to its annual Rosefest Backyard Campfire and Campout. Join us on Saturday, June 26-27 at Harriet Alexander Nature Center (HANC) for an overnight camping experience. Open to all ages, Space is limited and registration required.
