Beginning at 9 p.m. Fri, July 12, westbound Hwy 36 will close between I-35E in Little Canada and I-35W in Roseville. The highway will reopen by 5 a.m. Mon, July 15. During the same time, westbound Hwy 36 will be reduced to a single lane between Hwy 61 in Maplewood and I-35E in Little Canada.
At the same time, the loop ramp from northbound Cleveland Ave. to westbound Hwy 36 and southbound I-35W will close. If you use that route, you’ll need to find an alternate route. The right lane of westbound Hwy 36 also will be closed at Hwy 280
However, the loop ramp from southbound I-35W to eastbound Hwy 36 will remain open and northbound Hwy 280 to eastbound Hwy 36 will also remain open.
During the westbound Hwy 36 full closure, you’ll have to detour north on I-35E, west on I-694 and south on I-35W.
We appreciate your patience while we make these improvements. Plan ahead by checking 511, and give yourself additional time to reach your destination.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule permitting and subject to change.
More about this project
We are resurfacing nearly six miles of Hwy 36 between I-35W in Roseville and Edgerton St. in Little Canada and making additional improvements. Resurfacing of aging pavement on Hwy 36 will provide a smoother ride for motorists and extend the life of the existing roadway.
A new auxiliary lane from southbound I-35W to eastbound Hwy 36 will provide more distance for drivers to safely merge onto eastbound Hwy 36 which will ease traffic flow and reduce congestion. Reconstruction of the ramp from northbound Cleveland Ave. to eastbound Hwy 36 and extending the merge lane onto eastbound Hwy 36 will provide more time for drivers to safely merge into traffic. Improved drainage will also help channel water to prevent pavement damage from flooding and weather events. The project is anticipated to be complete in late September.
