This day celebrating what's also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, the Black Fourth of July, or Independence Day, commemorates the day in 1865 when slaves in Galveston, Texas were finally informed they were free, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation of Jan. 1, 1863. This event is a collaboration of Do Good Roseville, the City of Roseville, M Health Fairview, Roseville Community Fund, Bremer Bank, UCare, Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures, Caribou Coffee, and more.
